Maine College of Art and the Furniture Society hosted the Furniture Society’s 2012 conference (FS12), Design, Community, and the Sublime, June 14-16 in Portland, Maine. A celebration of traditions and intersections of craft, community, and design in a setting of natural beauty and contemporary culture. This event hosted: 400 attendees, 2 keynote presentations, an award of distinction evening, an auction, 6 exhibitions, 60 workshops and programs, off-site tours and various trips.
Maine College of Art is located in the heart of the Portland Arts District, Maine College of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Arts, a Post-Baccalaureate in Art Education as well as Continuing Studies for adults and youths, including a Pre-College intensive for high school students.
The Furniture Society is a nonprofit, educational organization founded in 1996. Its mission is to advance the art of furniture making by inspiring creativity, promoting excellence and fostering an understanding of this art and its place in society.
